I bought the Family Reunion one and had to fight back tears putting it together. It looked exactly like my grandmother's backyard every summer, the card tables, the kids running around, the foil pans of food. My mama saw it and immediately started telling stories.
My kids have done a hundred puzzles of castles and puppies. This was the first one that showed people who look like them, doing things we actually do. My daughter pointed at the little girls playing double dutch and said 'that's me!' That moment alone was worth it.
I framed mine and hung it up. People always ask about it. I love that it celebrates our culture and our joy instead of just our struggle the colors, the community, the everyday beauty. You can feel the love that went into making it. Already ordered my second one.
